Go Easy:
How many of you set New Year’s Resolutions? I personally swap out resolutions for intentions, because to me resolutions carry that heaviness of something being wrong or needing to be resolved in order to be successful. To which I disagree. Yes, there are things that can be “wrong or challenging” in our lives, but it is not the end all be all as far as determining our self worth, or how good we may or may not be at something.
I set intentions each year for myself on things that I would like to be able to experience within that year, versus resolutions just being something to check off a to-do list. Getting in the mind set of intentionality allows space for grace through the process from where we start to where we want to be. Yet in the middle of where we are versus where we are going, we sometimes forget that well life can be in session and flows in different seasons of navigation.
Often times, WE put the most pressure on ourselves, which can be a result of past situations or when we compare ourselves to others. Each one of us is on our own journey of self discovery, no matter how touch or easy situations may be.
Just because things may be happening for those around you, it does not mean that those same things you want to acheieve can’t happen for you. We need to go easy on ourselves, acknowledge ourselves and leverages where we are in order to move forward, no matter how slow we walk or crawl; either way you are moving in a forward motion.
Let the space between where you are and where you want to be, be your motivation to take life by the horns. Weither we make our bed in the morning, take a shower after a three day stint with depression, run a 5k, or publish the next best seller, life is not about competition with anyone. Strive to be better than the person that you were yesterday and we will all continue to move forward, knowing no matter how big or how small, WE define as our own success no matter what the world tells us.
