New Year, Same you:

Well I don’t know about you, I feel like this year shot off like a rocket, and it is hard to think that we are already now into February! Wither you are a goal setting successor, or an intentional individual, the start of the year can be both exciting and daunting. Fun, yet also wondering what the heck does this next year involve? Taking down the holiday decorations, closing the door on the year, and the potential for a new chapter ahead!

Over the years, and working in some of the industries that I have worked in, the year starts out motivational and then slowly starts to dwindle. Excitement of the New Year begins to fade, and let’s be honest with ourselves here, life is always in session, and there are going to be things that knock us off balance. The start of the New Year is no different.

What if this year, we tried something a little bit different. What if this year, it was a New Year, yet the same you? I will be honest with you here, my 2025 was a very strained year. Lots of new changes happened for me, some exciting, some life changing, some challenging, and some flat out exhausting. However, it was also one of the best years I have had. 2025 pushed me in ways I didn’t think I could be pushed, both personally and professionally. There was and still continues to be so much healing taking place internally. 2025 brought my memoir finally being self published and out at booksellers, opening my heart to love again (which is something I quite frankly was having doubts would ever happen) and there was also energy sucking vampires at every turn. This year, I started doing another layer of inner healing work for my central nervous system (more on that in future blogs), traveled to amazing places, battled some health issues and also battled some issues of the mind. Our own worst enemy and our best friend can be housed between our own two ears!

All that to say, I know that with each year a lot of what culture tells us is “New Year, New You”. How come it isn’t ever “New Year, Same You?” I understand with fresh starts brings new perspective and I am all for a new flip to the script. I am simply saying that it doesn’t always have to be a “New you” that comes into the “New Year.” There are parts of my 2025 that crumbled my foundation to the ground in a few areas of my life, which I am absolutely grateful for regardless of the pain points and growth that came with it. However, the woman who went through that crumbling, and wilderness season, is stronger, calmer, healthier, safer, and more peaceful. Those parts of me are ALL parts that I want to bring with me into my 2026, as it has put down a really solid beautiful foundation in its place that I have faith will be easier to stand on as the year continues to unfold.

I challenge you to take time to reflect the things that you could definitely do without when it comes to stepping into the “New Year”. I also encourage you to get honest with yourself on all the things that you did right, that you are grateful for, obstacles that challenged you, or helped you grow from 2025, and bring those into the New Year as the “Same You”.

Looking forward to what 2026 has to offer!

Live audaciously y’all!
